Peterboro Basket Company’s Bicycle Basket and Ice Master Cooler featured in Made Collection.

Peterboro Basket Company’s basket making legacy began in 1854 when Amzi Childs and Asa Henry began weaving baskets in Peterborough, New Hampshire. With a reputation for making a variety of durable, versatile baskets out of Appalachian White Ash, their small company attracted many and enterprising businessman and was bought and sold multiple times before settling in the hands of Walter Hood in 1962. Of his newfound profession, Hood has been known to say, “I like making baskets. They’re one of the oldest creations of man. They date to before my time. I love my work”. It’s that same passion that’s made Peterboro an industry leader, one that has yet to forget the careful attention to detail with which Amzi Childs wove his first basket 150 years ago.

It’s that time of year again; flora starts to exhibit vital signs of life after a long winter, birds return home, and millions of students descend upon the nation’s party towns in the name of sunburns, daiquiris, and debauchery. Ah, spring break has sprung.

Spring Break is an American phenomenon that began in 1936 when Colgate University swim team coach Sam Ingram began the annual tradition of bringing his team down to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to compete at the Casino Pool. After Time Magazine published a story about the swim meets, aptly entitled “Beer & the Beach”, more and more coeds joined the increasingly raunchy fun-fest, and the rest is hazy, dangerously tan history.

But spring break just wouldn’t be spring break without the cold libations that are traditionally enjoyed on such occasion of tomfoolery. That’s why we at Made found you the world’s most spring-break appropriate cooler there is: The Wisconsin Products Stump Cooler. It’s made from a special polyurethane blend that’s 5x stronger, and 8x more insulating than foam coolers. Oh, and if you haven’t noticed, it looks exactly like a tree stump, so it comes replete with all the comic irony you’d ever need.
